India is amongst the 10 largest coffee producers in the world, yet Indian coffee is rare to find outside of India. India has a long and diverse coffee history. From unique regional varieties to native flavors, Indian coffee carries richness and personality. At RAANI, we celebrate the uniqueness of Indian coffee while also bringing carefully chosen, limited micro lots from around the world.
RAANI means “queen.” It is also a familiar Indian name, often heard in households across the country. For us, RAANI is not just a name, it represents the people behind every bean. A majority of our coffees come from the majestic Western Ghats of India, where women make up nearly seventy percent of the workforce. Their strength, care, and resilience breathe life into each harvest. They are the queens of our story.
As a South Asian Immigrant woman owned brand, RAANI is built on the values of culture, community, and belonging. We proudly work with small farm holders and shine a light on women led farms, ensuring their stories and contributions are seen and celebrated.
At the heart of RAANI is a belief that every cup holds a story. It is the story of those who grow with love, of those who gather to share, and of the communities built around coffee.
HI, IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU!
I'm Praveena, the mind behind Raani. I am a Beverage Developer, Coffee Roaster, and an Arabica Q Grader. I grew up on my fifth-generation tea farm in South India. Coffee is an integral part of South Indian food culture. My fondest memory of coffee is the morning ritual of waking up to the freshly filtered coffee/kaapi decoction (an espresso like concentrate) mixed with hot sweetened milk and aerated by the unique pulling process that creates a foamy head adding richness to the mouthfeel.
After moving to the US and what started as a passion to share my love for the nostalgic filter kaapi with friends, shaped into Raani.
